23rd Annual Greyfest
Saturday, June 29, 2019
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Snail Lake Regional Park Pavilion
4191 Snail Lake Blvd
Shoreview, MN 55126
Greyfest is a wonderful event dedicated to celebrating, remembering and partying with the best hounds out there! We will be in the same location we've been for several years, Snail Lake Pavilion in Shoreview, which features large covered areas with picnic tables, and plenty of outside space to bring your own blanket.
From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. we will have food, beer, and will host a bevy of activities all dedicated to making this a greyt greyhound get-together.
Greyfest also helps GPA MN raise the funds necessary to continue our important work of finding forever homes for retired racers. So, grab your kids, both two-legged and four-legged, call your friends, bring a camera, and join us for a greyt summer day. Admission is free!
Greyfest goes on, rain or shine, 90 degrees or 40 degrees, so please remember umbrellas, sunscreen, jackets, sweatshirts, lawn chairs, or whatever you need for whatever our lovely Minnesota weather brings!
This is an event at which there will be 75-100 greyhounds. Large and medium breed dogs other than greyhounds are welcome, but NO SMALL DOGS, PLEASE! Remember, not all greyhounds are small-dog friendly.
All dogs must be leashed.
Speed Alley (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) *weather permitting*
Speed Alley is a fully-fenced, straight-line run for your hound. It is a safe place where your hound can go and show everyone how they earned the nickname of "45 mile per hour Couch Potatoes." Of course, the radar gun will be there to give ou the exact MPH of your hound!
Cost for Speed Alley:
$5 per hound per run (run only, no photo)
$10 per hound per run (high-quality digital photo file)
Fastest 3 hounds down Speed Alley will receive a trophy!
100% of the proceeds from Speed Alley will be donated to GPA MN!!
Once again, we'll have a variety of greyhound games, including the hot dog eating tournament ($5 entry fee, winner receives half of the proceeds with the other half donated to GPA MN); group roo, musical squares, and MORE!
There will be games for people, too! We'll have the usual wine toss for adults, and a pop toss for the two-legged kiddos.
What, contests, too? You bet! Certificates will be awarded to the winners of these fun competitions:
Best Twins - find your hound's closest look-alike and see whether your hound and their twin are identical enough to convince the judges!
Longest "Sit Stay" - Can your hound sit? Let's see which hound can sit the longest with the "Sit Stay" contest.
Longest Tail - We'll measure just how long that squirrely-whirly tail is!
Oldest Hound/Youngest Hound - Ear tattool will give a way a lady's (or gentleman's) true age for this game
If you've been to greyfest before, you know that this event cannot run itself. We need a number of volunteers to help us by taking shifts to help with various activities throughout the day. If you would like to help, please contact our greyfest coordinators at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any help you can provide to make this a greyt day is appreciated!
