Available Hounds

Hi, I’m Amy! I came from a land down under, but am very quickly adapting to Minnesota. I’m enjoying the snow, and the cold doesn’t seem to bother me much. Going on walks is such fun! My foster dad says I do really well on the leash, and I’m polite when we encounter other people and dogs. My greyhound brother is showing me the ropes, and we love just hanging out together and following our dad around the house. We share our food, toys, and beds nicely. I’m not keen on being in the kennel, but I’m pretty well-behaved when left alone…except for the occasional theft of some tissue boxes. I don’t ruin anything (well, except for those tissues). I’m inquisitive and getting better at leaving things alone when told “no.” I’m a smart girl, so I’m sure with practice I’ll get the hang of it! I’m good with stairs, wooden floors, and riding in the car. I need some help learning to come when called, and my foster dad says that using toys vs food might work best with that. Do you think I would be a great addition to your home?

I'm Blaze! I love Going on walks! I am currently walking about 6 miles/day. I love being close to my people. I prefer to be in the same room as my foster family. I love other dogs! I have A gentle personality. I am scared of slippery floors but have mastered most wood floors. Even so, I appreciate a yoga mat in the hallway for extra security. I am nervous of places that I slipped in the past. I like to lean on my foster on walks I am A sweet sweet boy! I am safe alone at home for short periods of time. I get along with Cats. I live with three cats and even sometimes share a bed with them! I am a little nervous around new kitties but comfortable with the ones in my family who I see every day. I would rather not be kenneled or be alone the whole day. I need patience and loving encouragement. I am nervous about many small things and need someone I trust to encourage me and help me feel safe and confident to master new skills. Hope to find my forever family soon! I'm Bravo. I love going on walks. I have slightly droopy cheeks that are quite charming. One look at me and you won't be able to resist kissing my snoot. (I dare you to try!) I am shy at first, but give me time to settle in and I will show you I am a very friendly guy. Once I break out of my shell, I get along with everyone I meet! I would rather not be left alone in a room with food within my reach. It's just too tempting for me to try and have a taste. I need a home that will be diligent with making sure I don't run out the door. I just get so excited to have the opportunity to go outside! My foster family says that I am a really sweet guy and just need a bit more time to learn my manners. I do really well with being redirected and do listen to the word "no." I'm still learning about toys. Right now I prefer the human's stuffed animals and slippers to dog toys.  Personality Traits: laid back, social, velcro dog, shy

Hi, I'm Colby! I love Allllll the rubs and leaning on people. On walks, I love when people stop to pet me and to visit shops for treats and pets. I like to independently play with toys too but my foster person says I haven't discovered that they squeak yet. I have a funny way of scratching my head using my leg (not foot, although I do use my foot, too). It is really quirky! I am very sweet, super curious, and a bit mischievous. I do like to counter surf and my foster says I might be a hoarder. I took her slippers into my kennel. I'm great in the car but I need help getting in. My foster says I'm interested in other dogs - staring them down, pulling hard, a few times spinning on leash - so she did not have me meet any yet. I'm probably just so curious about seeing other types of dogs that aren't greyhounds. Something I can work on with some help from my forever person. Something else I need to work on with your help is that I'm not a fan of having certain things taken away. Looking forward to meeting you! Hi, I’m Ouzo! I love furry squeaky toys, treats, people, being outside, walks, staring out the window, and affection from my humans. I also love food! I love it so much that I eat from a slow feeder. I enjoy meeting people and getting pets. When other dogs bark at me, I don't seem to be bothered by it. I would rather not walk up or down an entire flight of stairs, but could probably learn. Sometimes I will cry a little if I see something interesting out the window. I need someone who will walk me a couple times a day, and give me lots of attention and affection. I'm generally ok sleeping through the night, but occasionally I will get a little restless early in the morning. I may fuss a little, but I'll settle back down and wait for my humans to get up. Do you think I would be a great addition to your home?

Hi, I’m Piper! I am an active girl, a power walker, and I love the sofa SO MUCH. I might hoard toys a little bit, and I have been told that chewing on things that aren’t my toys isn’t what good girls do and that boundaries are something I need to work on, but who’s to say if that’s really true or not. I will tap the doorknob to let you know I need to go out for a potty break, and I might also take the opportunity to play some fetch or chase some squirrels in the fenced in yard while I’m out there. I am a night owl, I love to cuddle in the morning but prefer to be more active at night. I get along well with people and other greyhounds, but not cats. I don’t like cats. I would rather not be alone if you are in the house too. Do you think I would be a great addition to your home?

Hi, I’m Xena! I love pets and scritches! I also love going on walks! I’m great at going potty while on a leash as well as in the yard.I have some separation anxiety, but I will settle down eventually. I just want everyone together in the same room. I get along with my greyhound foster brother, but I don’t rely on him. I would rather not be in the kennel, but I’ve been making progress! I am a bit of a counter surfer: if I can see yummy food, I will attempt to grab it. I’ve also learned how to use the stairs! I wasn’t so sure at first, but now I love to fly up and down as fast as I can. I do need some basic obedience training and help understanding what is a dog toy and what is not. I haven’t tried to hop onto people furniture, and so far I have not wanted to lay on any dog beds or blankets. I honestly prefer the hardwood floor or a yoga mat. Slippery floors don’t bother me at all! Do you think I would be a great addition to your home?
