General
Greyhound• We have no kennels. All dogs coming into GPA-MN go into private foster homes. Our foster homes open their hearts and homes so that we can know much more about the dogs' personalities than if they were kept in a kennel situation. Dogs also have a head start in the adjustment to home living. Dogs have been cat tested and in many cases, live in foster homes with cats.
• Although greyhounds are usually good around kids, we do not adopt to families with children under 5 years of age. They are strong dogs and are not used to the activity of a young child.
• You will receive a GPA-MN ID tag with a local and national 800 number in case your dog ever gets lost. (We also require that your dog wears an additional ID tag with your contact information.
• Whenever possible, we will provide a copy of your dog's National Greyhound Association registration and racing history.

Medical

Greyhound on a couch
• All dogs receive full dentals when they are being spayed or neutered. Greyhounds have special anesthesia needs. Performing both procedures at the same time prevents the dogs from having to go through anesthesia and surgical procedures twice.
• We provide many opportunities to socialize your dog with other greyhounds and for you to ask questions of experienced greyhound owners
• All adoptable dogs are current on their rabies and DHPP vaccinations. This gives you a full year before your dog will need to be revaccinated.
• Our dogs are all de-wormed with a de-wormer that kills all common worms, including tapeworms. Tapeworms are not visible in regular fecal testing.
• All dogs are bathed as soon as they come off the track and are treated for fleas.Greyhound on the floor
